MyST PortaDAC 2702U is a compact portable DAC with a built-in headphone amplifier that can be connected to audio signal source via USB. It’s case is made of aluminium. It may seem to have a bit rough outfit, but it makes MyST PortaDAC 2702U tough and reliable.
An electric power is transferred to MyST PortaDAC 2702U via USB – the same way as an audio signal. So, an external power adaptor or a battery isn’t required.
On the rear side of MyST PortaDAC 2702U there’s a 3,5 mm line out jack that allows an external amplifier or active speakers to be connected. You can use both line out and headphone out at the same time.
Built-in amplifier of MyST PortaDAC 2702U is capable of handling almost any headphone with impedance from 8 to 600 Ohms. And it’s maximum loudness is so huge that most headphones can hurt your ears while playing at one third of maximum volume. However, at an adequate volume, you will hear no hiss from MyST PortaDAC 2702U’s amp, on most headphones even when music is turned off.
Sound signature of MyST PortaDAC 2702U is a bit dark, with a small prevalence of bass over the rest of frequency range. It’ s true both for headphone and line outs. To make MyST PortaDAC 2702U sound neutral, you may use a bit bright sounding headphones or an amplifier with it. But still, dark and bassy sound signature of MyST PortaDAC 2702U will satisfy tastes of many music lovers, not just bassheads, because in spite of a little prevalence of bass it sounds naturally and clearly, with a good resolution, comparable to high quality sound cards. Impacts are sharp and are a bit forward to decays. It brings some roughness to the sound signature, but also, makes it more energetic and involving.
